Tashkooh Burning Hill

Just off the road between
Ramhormoz and Petak Jalali in Khuzestan, located in a spectacular valley, lies the Tashkooh. From numerous holes in its slope leaks natural gas that burns just above the ground. Under the slope, there is a dry river bed, flooded only during a few rainy winter days, but does not extinguish the flame.
The place is a popular spot for locals and during the weekends it’s not uncommon to see people picnicking and cooking food above the flames. The best time to visit is at night when the flames are the most vibrant.
